Second regional day of emiliano-romagnoli in the world

descrizione immagine

Luogo:Bardi (PR)

Why that particular date? And why Bardi?

It is a day to commemorate the tragedy of the ship Arandora Star which was sunk off the coast of England on July 2, 1940 by a German submarine. Transformed from a cruise ship into a warship, the Arandora had departed from the port of Liverpool bound for a detention camp in Canada and was carrying more than 1,500 Italian, German and Austrian nationals, guilty only of being on British soil at the time of the Nazi-Fascist declaration of war on Britain. Intercepted two days after departure, it was identified as an enemy ship and sunk. Of the approximately 800 people who lost their lives there, 446 were Italians, mostly from the towns of the Apennines of Piacenza and, especially, Parma: many from Borgotaro and as many as 48 from Bardi.

In 2024 (dates being finalized) people will be able to participate in the program prepared to honor this date. A festival where thousands of people from all over the world will be able to experience these days in an atmosphere of joy and linked to the memory of the emigrants, but also where you can also taste the typical products of the region and, finally, experience and breathe the atmosphere of the village today.
