The experience

When people think of Romagna, they always associate it with the sea, the long sandy beaches and the delicious piadina romagnola. Romagna is not only the Adriatic coast and Rimini the capital of tourism and entertainment. There is a different Romagna made up of art cities, small authentic villages and excellent cuisine.

Instead, in Romagna (and the surrounding area) there are cultural treasures worth visiting and traditions to experience, in between swimming.

Tour

Brisighella (Ra)

Brisighella has been called one of Italy’s Most Beautiful Villages, a slow city for its architectural beauty and quality of life, awarded the orange flag by the Italian Touring Club. To travel through Brisighella is to discover a village and a land immersed in a natural setting that is still intact, a pleasure for the eyes, a place to love in every season. Today, after walking around the village with a tour guide, you`ll have the opportunity to learn about the art of embroidery firsthand. You will learn how beautiful pieces, especially for trousseaus, came into being, which you have surely already seen in your own home, preserved like little treasures.

For lunch you will try a tasting of excellent local products, such as piadina, typical cheese, Brisighella D.O.P. olive oil, and Mora Romagnola cold cuts, an ancient breed of pig you can only find here!Address:

Bertinoro (Fc)

In the afternoon you will take a guided tour of this beautiful medieval village and the fortress. When you enter the latter, you can smell the sea. It’s an instant, it almost seems as if you can still feel the fury of the sea rushing against the cliff that was once Bertinoro.

Bertinoro is also famous for its wines and gastronomy. With a “sfoglina” you will learn how to iron the pastry with a rolling pin, with the opportunity to taste the delicious dish in a symbolic place: the balcony over Romagna in Bertinoro, accompanied by traditional Romagna wines.

Cervia (Ra)

Cervia Salt Works, the southern gateway to the Po Delta Regional Park, is along with Comacchio Salt Works the northernmost salt works in Italy. Walking barefoot on salt will bring to mind the experience lived by thousands of salt workers in Romagna. Touching silt, enjoying a breathtaking sunset, and tasting Salicornia are just some of the experiences you can have in this magical place!

Address: SP6, Strada Statale Salara, 48015 Cervia RA, Italy

Cesenatico (Fc)

Start the morning strolling around Cesenatico and enjoy its calm and relaxed atmosphere. At the end of the classic route and in the old part of the Canal Port, designed by Leonardo da Vinci in 1502, you will find moored large and small fishing boats, the traditional Bragozzi.

You will then arrive at the Maritime Museum. This is a special museum, next to the historic center, among the fishermen’s houses and places of fish preservation and sale, where the entire community of Cesenatico sees its history and identity reflected. Don’t miss tasting the traditional cuisine served by Cesena fishermen.

In the afternoon, another craft activity awaits you, that is, you will learn an ancient practice still active in Romagna today: hand printing on canvas with special looms!

Ravenna

Ravenna’s 8 monuments that are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site are one of the biggest reasons why this city is unforgettable. During this day you will get to know the main monuments of Ravenna included in the Unesco World Heritage List, from the beautiful Basilica of S. Vitale, one of the greatest masterpieces of Ravenna for the originality of its architectural layout, to the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia, to the Neonian Baptistery, ending with a visit to S. Apollinare Nuovo: palatine basilica of the Gothic king Theodoric, which preserves one of the most extensive and admirable mosaic surfaces in existence.

You will visit a real mosaic workshop in Ravenna and have a unique experience. At the end of the visit you can attend a short two-hour workshop and make your own mosaic, to take home as a souvenir of Ravenna.

You can’t end the day without enjoying an authentic dining experience at a Ravenna home. You will learn how to make Piadina Romagnola with its secrets, ending with an authentic traditional menu made with natural ingredients.

Bagno di Romagna

Beyond the Mandrioli Pass, which divides Tuscany and Emilia-Romagna, and the provinces of Arezzo and Forlì-Cesena, lies Bagno di Romagna, well known as a spa center.

The day will begin with a walk to Lake Pontini and short hike in the woods with an experienced guide, where you can choose from the many well-marked trails that will lead you to discover breathtaking views and unspoiled landscapes.

Romagna, piadina, salina, Po delta park, Bagno di Romagna spa, Cesenatico, sea, Adriatic coast.

In the afternoon, we will take you on a tour of the narrow streets of the historic center of Bagno di Romagna, which will take you back to the days of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, among ancient walls, towers and ramparts, where you will visit the headquarters of the city’s Historical Archives. We suggest a relaxing time at a spa to enjoy the warm waters and their properties, as the Romans already did.

The day ends with a real Romagna aperitif.
