An event dedicated to art and solidarity

On March 5, 2025, New York hosted aroundmorandi – still life with bread and lemon, a special event dedicated to the art of Giorgio Morandi, organized by wonderingstars. The initiative animated two prestigious places: the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and the Fasano Restaurant – Baretto, celebrating the artist’s poetics and the link between art and solidarity.

The event offered a rich and varied cultural experience, with:

  • A workshop for children

  • A book celebration with three volumes dedicated to Morandi

  • A charity dinner with the participation of six internationally renowned chefs

All this was carried out in support of Save the Children, thanks to the collaboration of important institutions and partners.

A project supported by prestigious institutions

The initiative has received the patronage of:

  • MAECI – Ministero degli Affari Esteri e della Cooperazione Internazionale

  • Emilia-Romagna Region

  • Municipality of Bologna

  • Morandi Museum

  • MAMbo – Museum of Modern Art of Bologna

  • ADI – Association for Industrial Design

The support of ITALEA, ITALEA Emilia-Romagna, COM.IT.ES. NY and the contribution of NEOS AIR were fundamental for the realization of the project.

The link with ITALEA and roots tourism

The aroundmorandi project integrates perfectly with ITALEA, the program promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to encourage roots tourism, supported by the PNRR and funded by NextGenerationEU. The initiative aims to strengthen the link between Italians abroad and their origins, allowing them to rediscover the places linked to Giorgio Morandi, in particular the municipalities of the Emilian Apennines, which marked his life and his art.

Thanks to the collaboration with ITALEA Emilia-Romagna, the project has already been included in the Roots Tourism program and started in New York, creating a bridge between culture, memory and Italian identity in the world.

The charity auction: Morandi’s art for Save the Children

One of the most significant moments of the event was the opening of the charity auction, inspired by the famous bottles of Giorgio Morandi. Over 30 international designers have reinterpreted this iconic element, transforming it into unique works made with the craftsmanship excellence of master glassmakers.

The charity auction aims to raise funds in support of Save the Children’s Hunger Eats Children campaign, contributing to the distribution of therapeutic food, water and medical care for the most vulnerable children.

The auction is currently underway and will remain open until April 5, 2025. You can participate and make bids at the following link: https://www.charitystars.com/aroundmorandi
