In the small mountain town of Polinago, with a view of Monte Cimone, just an hour’s drive from Modena, in the land of motors that gave birth to important brands on the world scene, the first Sunday of August each year is dedicated to historic motoring.
Now in its 12th edition, the exhibition of 2 & 4 historic wheels in Polinago attracts enthusiasts from all over Italy. The entire course is transformed into the showcase of an event that is registering, year after year, a continuous increase in both participants and visitors.
From early morning the streets are tinged with the characteristic sparkle of the bodies and the roar of the engines of the participants in the exhibition. Private individuals, enthusiasts, farmers still in possession of the equipment of the past, show off their motoring jewels of the past to make the visitor experience a moment of history, enriched with the many figures in rural clothes and street musicians.
Over 250 vehicles, including vintage cars, motorcycles and tractors; an opportunity for the many enthusiasts to admire vehicles, in some cases, truly historic such as some Balillas, or the legendary Fiat 110 of the 30s, the first Guzzi motorcycles, military and agricultural vehicles, the Alfa Romeo 6-cylinder of the 50s, up to the “hot-headed” Landini tractors of the 30s with manual starting.
The passion of Modena and the tradition of mountain roots are also revived within the event through the agricultural machinery and manual parts of the past.
In fact, it will be an opportunity to see the ancient threshing machine back in operation, with a demonstration of threshing wheat according to the technique that in the past was used by our grandparents in the common farmyards of small villages.
The experience of the visitor of the roots will be enriched thanks to the possibility of being able to board a historic car for a walk through the village with the wind in your hair.
As any typical event requires, the morning ends with the opportunity to have lunch in the company of all the exhibitors and enthusiasts based on the traditional crescentine, ciacci with lard and typical products of the traditional Modena mountain table
