In Berceto there has been the Living Community Museum Casa di Augusto since 2019 which is located in the town center.
This is a small peasant house that has remained as if in a suspended time.
In fact, the museum does not contain objects, but comes alive with stories released every time the inhabitants populate it.
The House of Augustus comes to life by hosting events to co-construct the shared memory of the country.
Following the style of the museum’s activities, i.e. that of an open and co-participated interview with the mediation of an expert anthropologist, the project carries out three meetings with the population (and with passing visitors) in the summer of 2024.
The aim is to collect oral testimonies about Berceto’s migration abroad following the two main trajectories (France and the United States), studying together with the participants (emigrants, inhabitants of the country and experts in Roots Tourism) an action strategy to promote roots tourism in the immediate future and strengthening ties with Italian communities abroad
