The experience
This extremely articulated exhibition will be a real multimedia experience that will be set up during the next autumn in the fantastic Casone Donnabona. Hundreds of testimonies, maps, tables, statistics and graphs taken from important publications on the regional migration phenomenon, will include a photographic section that will capture the hearts of travelers of the roots. Photographs dated between the 50s and 70s will provide a vivid look at life beyond their communities of origin, documenting the search for new human and emotional balances in distant lands.
The images on display will offer a window on the daily life of Italian emigrants, with particular reference to emigration from the province of Ferrara, showing not only the difficulties and challenges, but also the moments of joy, the traditional festivals, and the preservation of Italian customs in the new countries of adoption. Through these photographs, you will be able to perceive the emotion and reality experienced by your ancestors, creating a bridge between past and present.
The exhibition will be further enriched with a series of posters of Italian films that deal with the theme of emigration. The numerous posters represent an important testimony of the way in which Italian cinema has told and interpreted the stories of those who have left their country. In fact, cinema has often given voice to the hopes, fears and achievements of emigrants, offering a unique and fascinating perspective on the phenomenon of migration.
The final section of the exhibition, entitled “Departures and Arrivals”, will provide a contemporary perspective on the ever-present problem of labour migration. This section will highlight today’s challenges related to migration and the continued movement of people in search of work and better living conditions. Through recent data and current testimonies, the dynamics of contemporary labour migration will be presented, highlighting how the migration phenomenon continues to profoundly influence the societies of origin and destination.
The exhibition will not only be a collection of information, but an emotional and reflective journey that connects the past with the present. It is a tribute to all the emigrants who have helped to build bridges between different cultures, bringing with them their cultural and human heritage. With the help of multimedia and interactive elements, visitors will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the stories of migration, better understanding the motivations, difficulties and successes of those who have lived this experience.
The exhibition will be a celebration of the resilience and spirit of migrants, offering a space for reflection and recognition of the contribution these people have made to host societies. An unmissable experience that will allow you to live, even if only for a moment, the extraordinary journey of those who have chosen to emigrate.
