August 25 will be a solemn day dedicated to the reception of former citizens of Sarsina, with the possibility of accessing the civil status documents. In the middle of the morning, at the Town Hall, the Mayor will welcome with a special ceremony, handing over a parchment to the former citizens and their descendants present, all with the help of translators.
This will be followed by a traditional Sarsina lunch at the stand of the Proloco of Sarsina in Piazza Plauto.
During the day, an itinerant narrative will be presented through the streets of Sarsina: the show “A piada in a suitcase,” the result of months of work and a writing workshop that has recovered stories preserved by most of the families in the area.
It will tell the story of all those people who took a suitcase with a few things and left, bringing with them above all the love for their origins, the practical and simple character of Romagna, homesickness and, perhaps, a little “dose” (baking powder) to make piadina. It will be a journey through narrative stages, like the one made by the protagonists of the stories. In some stages, there will be moments of tasting of typical products (piadina, wine, cured meats, etc.) related to the stories.
As you walk through the country, you will be able to admire its beauty and memories, such as a photo or a postcard that the emigrants brought with them.
The show will be repeated several times throughout the day and will be intended for groups of spectators of all ages. This guided tour includes some fundamental stops in the visit of Sarsina, such as: the National Archaeological Museum, the Cathedral Basilica of Sarsina with possible blessing with the collar of San Vicinio, and a visit to the Museum of Sacred Art. Organized by Trame – Teatro e Musica, with the collaboration of the Women’s Council. With: Valentina Donati and Antonio Salerno, and with the participation of the citizens of Sarsina and the Coro D’Altro Canto APS directed by Maestro Christian Rossi.
